The Chicago History Museum project includes an extensive renovation of the museum facilities, helping to transform the public image to reflect the museum's ambitions of becoming a destination for exciting, educational exhibition experiences. The driving force behind the project is the creation of a new interactive permanent exhibit on Chicago history. As a result, the existing permanent galleries, temporary galleries, and technical support spaces had to be relocated and integrated into a new museum experience tying together building elements from differing time periods. Also included in the renovation are required life safety code improvements.
